This long-established organization working in Community Development on a National Basis, is looking to appoint an Assistant to the Accountant, who can provide support and sound practical accounting to a high level of accuracy and high standards.  This is a Christian organization which adheres to the Christian ethos.

Ideally the successful candidate will have

  • Preferably a tertiary qualification and possibly 3-4 years of relevant accounting experience in debtors, creditors and payroll if possible.
  • Excellent knowledge of Accounting statements and finance related legislation such as the VAT Act.
  • Strong computer skills  on related Accounting software including  EXCEL
  • An ability to interpret numbers, figures and other financial information for problem solving.
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to determine work priorities,  adhere to deadlines and to cope with a changing and less structured environment.
  • A high value system in terms of confidentiality and discretion.
  • The ability to work interdependently within a culturally diverse team and to uphold the Christian values and ethos of the organization

Duties will include but may extend to other ad hoc duties:

  • Implement systems to ensure that all cash and bank reconciliations are updated
  • Maintain cashbook on a daily basis for all bank and petty cash accounts, and update and replenish Petty Cash.
  • Ensure that all Purchase Invoices and Sales invoices are captured and day to day cash and bank payments are in place
  • Backup for payroll capturing  and assistance with running payroll
  • Coordinate with the Accountant in the production of management financial reports  
  • Support the Accountant by ensuring that general ledger and bank accounts are reconciled on time and correctly.
  • Submit journal entries to finance staff for review amend as necessary and post into Ledger.
  • Review account balances and ensure proper reconciliation have been carried out by affiliates.
  • Responsible for updating and reconciling the Consolidated Assets Register on a monthly basis.
  • Generate financial statements and analysis reports from computerized accounting system as needed.
  • Assist National Office Accountant and Financial and Administrative Manager with preparation of documents in relation to current account transactions.
  • Carry out other duties as directed by the Accountant and Finance Manager or National Director.

Our client, a small but busy holiday resort, seeks to employ a general finance and admin assistant, to manage bookkeeping (debtors, creditors, cash book, petty cash and guest payment allocations), as well as staff rosters, consumable purchases and manual wages for 6 staff. 

 Please note: that this role includes weekend work, being in the hospitality sector and therefore you must be willing to work Saturdays and Sundays, on a rotation basis.

 You must have good Pastel and Excel skills, as well as Matric, with Accounting as a subject. 

 Ideally, we would want a candidate from the Southern Peninsula area, due to the location of the resort and you will have your own transport, as running errands may be required from time to time. 

 You must be bilingual, reliable, well presented, articulate, detailed, trustworthy and able to work well independently.

Our client, a multinational logistics company, based in Parow, seeks to employ a Bookkeeper, as soon as possible.  Please note that this role is to start as soon as possible and therefore candidates from the Cape Town area will receive preference.  Due to the environment and industry, a male would be preferred but the role is open to all candidates who meet the requirements of the spec and who have a clear credit and criminal record.

 You will ideally have a tertiary qualification in Finance or alternatively, Accounting at Matric HG level and 3-5 years relevant experience in the following:

  • Creditors Control – full function from posting, reconciliation, payment and queries
  • Debtors Control – statements, reconciliation, queries, credit notes, debt collection, and ad hoc invoicing where required
  • Cashbook – posting and reconciliations, including petty cash, credit cards, expenses and sundries
  • Banking – loading local and foreign payments on online banking platform and daily capturing of bank statements
  • In addition, you will manage Cash Flow, Fixed Asset Register, VAT Returns and month end closing
  • Experience in advanced Excel essential, as well as CargoWise software package (CargoWise is advantageous and ideally you will have worked in the freight, shipping or logistics sector)
  • You will also be able to function well in a high pressure environment, work well independently, have a stable employment record and contactable reference.

Our client, a reputable multi-national project and design company, seeks to employ a taxation specialist to manage corporate taxation and commercial taxation in both the UAE and South Africa. 

 The non-negotiable criteria are for a candidate who has worked with taxation in Gulf based countries and who understands the dynamics and who has experience in managing VAT. 

 This role is NOT suited to a junior or recent graduate, it is for a mid-career level candidate, who has the relevant experience as listed below. 

 

  • Ideally, you will have completed Articles, as well as have gained both audit and commercial experience, preferably in a project environment, where Gulf based branches have fallen under your supervision. 
  • You must also be willing to travel to countries such as Kuwait, Omar, Dubai and Bahrain, spending lengthy periods in each country, considering that VAT is being implemented in the UAE from January 2018. 
  • You must also have proven IFRS15 based experience and be able to work both on the periphery of a team and independently to meet deadlines.
  • A valid passport, coupled with contactable references, a clear credit and police clearance is essential
