Our client, a market leader in the bulk transportation of construction materials, seeks to employ BEE trade tested, qualified and experienced Workshop Foreman/Manager for their operation in Jacobs, Durban. 

Please note: Due to the company’s BEE policies, this role is to replace a BEE candidate, therefore only BEE candidates can be considered. 

The position is a hands-on role, whereby the Manager leads a team of Diesel Mechanics but also gets involved in complex mechanical failure of vehicles, as well as workshop administration, managing operating expenses, budgets and reporting on Excel is essential. 

Working knowledge of diagnostic tools and complex problem solving is essential and preference is given to those with experience in vehicular electronic systems.

This role would not suit a candidate who has not been exposed to managing staff, you must have a proven track record in managing staff, performance, meting of KPI’s and planning/delegating of tasks both daily and monthly. 

In addition, you must have sound working knowledge of HSE, be computer literate in Excel (Intermediate or Advanced), be able to lead and delegate effectively and

This role is NOT suited to Mechanical Engineering graduates or those who have not completed a recognised trade test, through a South African accredited institution.  This is also not suited to candidates from a vehicle dealership or car rental based sector, this is geared toward candidates from the Transportation sector only

You will reside in and around the Jacobs area, be available to travel, often at short notice, to attend to breakdowns or attend to site based equipment problems when needed.

Our client, a progressive, dynamic and established electrical services contractor, to the petro-chem industry, seeks to employ a Master Installation Electrician to conduct inspections and issue COC’s at their operation at their East Rand branch.

 Please ensure you ARE a REGISTERED Master Installation Electrician before applying, this is not negotiable. 

The requirements are very specific, so please read carefully and ensure that you meet all the relevant criteria for the role. The salary is also not negotiable and paid according to ECA rates (available on the ECA Website 

The position is one of taking a mentoring, training and supervisory role for the existing technical teams of artisans and also to have a hands on approach to providing technical service and quality workmanship to the customers, in accordance with HSE and SLA agreements. 

  • You must be a certified Master Electrician, with a minimum of 3-5 years experience in gas testing, working on hazardous sites and being responsible for team inspections on completed sites, in petro-chemical or gas facility/environment.
  • You must have managed staff and also have been involved in project planning and day to day operational management functions
  • You must be an energetic multi-tasker who is able to mentor and train more junior artisans and ensure a high level of work performance and quality on completed site.
  • Good planning and organisational skills are essential
  • A valid driver’s license, South African citizenship and a clear criminal and credit record is required and will be verified.

OPS/BRANCH MANAGER ( MIE CERTIFICATION ESSENTIAL) – please read ad carefully before applying

Our client, a national medium sized electrical services company, seeks to employ a qualified and ECA certified Master Installation Electrician, to take over management and operations of a small branch in Somerset West. 

 Please Note that this role does require a fully registered MIE certification, certified by ECA and no other qualification or experience will be considered. This is not suitable for candidates from the heavy current sector, nor from the mining or manufacturing sector, the criteria and requirements are very specific and must be met as follows: 

  • You will be a South African citizen, who has passed a recognised trade test, as well as have the necessary MIE registration, verified through ECA, coupled with 3-5 years experience in managing construction electrical projects. 
  • You must have proven experience in managing staff, work orders, completing tenders, conducting HSE and workmanship quality inspections, report writing of incidents, as well as signing off on any installation or repair according to the specific SANS codes.
  • The role does require a hands on manager, therefore the person must be willing to work on projects
  • You will also have good verbal and written skills in English, in order to liaise with both customers and generate reports for management, have a good understanding of tenders, profit and loss margins, estimations and material costing, as well as being able to plan effectively and ensure branch profitability
  • Ideally, you will be resident in the Helderberg area or be willing to travel to Somerset West daily and on rotational standby.
  • Preference will be given to those candidates who have experience in the petro-chem sector, but construction industry experience is non-negotiable criteria.
