R45 000 – R50 000 CTC

STRICTLY BEE

Our client, a leader in the manufacture of construction materials, has created a new position within their organisation for a Purchasing Manager.  It is to be noted that this is a hands-on role; the person will be required to set up frameworks, policies and procedures from scratch, in order to achieve a uniformed procurement system and procedure across all branches, with the emphasis on sourcing and negotiating SLA’s and terms of service with potential suppliers, ensure that best prices for best quality are achieved and that line managers across the group adhere to new contracts, suppliers and procedures, with a strong focus on BBBEE.

It is also to be noted that this is NOT a corporate, executive or strategic level role, it is geared toward a candidate at mid-career level and who gets involved in a practical and hands on manner.  There will be procurement clerks to manage administration, creating of purchase orders and placement of orders, however, the bulk of the procurement function will fall onto the shoulders of the successful candidate.

Due to the current BBBEE framework of the company and policies in line with their Equity Plan, BEE candidates will receive preference.

  • You will have a relevant tertiary qualification, coupled with a minimum of 5 years Purchasing Management experience, with preference given to those from a Construction or Engineering environment, procuring both locally and internationally.
  • You will be goal driven, an expert negotiator and have an understanding of BBBEE rating compliance impact for local suppliers.
  • You will be hands on, be able to influence and collaborate with both management and suppliers in a mutually beneficial manner, with a proven track record in cost cutting practices, implementing policies and procedures to eliminate wasteful expenditure and streamlining current procedures across all branches.

  • You must be willing to travel, have a list of contactable references, have a clear criminal and credit record, as well as verified qualifications from a recognised South African tertiary education institute.

Due to the exceptionally high volumes of applications, we are unable to correspond with each applicant personally, therefore only relevant and suitable candidates will be contacted.  Should you not receive any correspondence from our company within 30 days, we regret your application has been unsuccessful.
