  • You will have completed a qualification in Sales and Marketing, coupled with 3-5 years’ experience in new business development, within the packaging, labelling and packaging sector, working to target and generating revenue according to annual sales budgets.
  • You will have gained experience in managing an entire customer stock line, margin management, assist with graphics, new product estimations and quotation presentations, as well as renegotiating pricing annually with customers.
  • You must be fluent in English and Afrikaans, have above average numeracy and literacy skills, communicate in a professional manner (both written and verbal), be goal orientated and highly self-motivated.

 Please note that, ideally, you will be resident in the Cape Town area and have a well-established network within the packaging and FMCG manufacturing sector.  Our client does not cover costs for relocation or interview travel, therefore, preference will be given to those residents already in the area.

  • You will have a Business or related degree, coupled with 5 years’ experience in FMCG area management, where you have been responsible for increasing standards of customer service, providing product training for staff and customers, providing quality service in the region and ensuring any quality or delivery problems are dealt with swiftly and communicated to the correct channels for correction.

This is a  good career opportunity for an experienced Technical Sales Consultant, who has worked in the field of lubricants and /or petro- chemical products, and who is looking to grow a strong career in sales.   You will bring a sound level of sales experience of at least eight to ten years in this technical environment, and have a tertiary qualification either in Engineering or Marketing.

Your prime responsibilities will be:-

  • To strategically drive marketing strategies
  • To identify and target new customers, monitor competitor activities, and ensure sales objectives are met continually through strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Ability to market new products, keep up to date with new trends and product development, and understand quality standards
  • Action and attention to administrative needs of the role through management reporting, customer service correspondence and credit records, as well as setting up own business plan and presentations to prospective customers.
  • Focused on building strong relationships with customers through regular calling and troubleshooting issues quickly.
  • Attendance at all exhibitions, trade fairs, product launches, and be able to network well at events and business gatherings.  You will also keep abreast of publications and material in this sector to back up your knowledge.

The ideal candidate is a self-driven, strong communicator, who has a professional attitude and manner of interacting with both customers and colleagues.    You will have a motivating and energetic style, and aim to have a successful, well-rewarded career in this role.     You will have a proven record of sales and have been accountable for generating against targets in previous positions.

This position requires a Technical Sales person who has BEEN INVOLVED IN SELLING MACHINERY  such as conveyor systems and computer driven PROCESS PACKAGING EQUIPMENT or similar. Ideally you will have been selling this type of equipment to a broad range of client companies, and you will be in a position to travel extensively throughout Southern Africa.  This is not a large corporate business but is stable and looking for someone who wants a good career option

 You will deal directly with clients as well as build good relationships with specialised agencies, and at the same time, be able to generate new business both in client business and also in seeking out new agencies where possible.   The equipment has a range of standard product lines which can be sold to all clients with small and large systems, but opportunities also need to be brought in for business where bespoke and specifically designed equipment can provide solutions to a variety of problems in client companies.  

 Your background must be in the field of SALES not as a technician but you must have a technical mindset and perhaps some technician training earlier in your career.  IT IS ESSENTIAL to have a PROVEN RECORD OF GENERATING NEW BUSINESS  in previous companies and must have credible and suitable referees to verify this aspect. Ideally you are a person who is motivated to earn a good income on incentives and be self-motivated to achieve in your field.   Your suitability to this role will increase if you have worked in agricultural areas particularly in the fruit sector in Selling process equipment or similar..

 This role does require candidates from a technical background and ideally suited to somebody who has 3-5 years’ experience in providing print and labelling solutions to the production sector or alternatively who has worked in a “hard sell” environment, like office automation, PABX sales or any other highly competitive environment.

 

  • You will be self-motivated, target driven, professional in appearance and through your interpersonal skills and have high energy levels.
  • You must be prepared to travel across the KZN region, have you own reliable vehicle and an unendorsed, valid driver’s license.
  • You must be fluent in English, with the ability to converse in Afrikaans and have excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing
