Our client, a National Oil and Gas/ Marine service & equipment supplier, seeks to employ a qualified and registered BEE Lifting Equipment/Machinery Inspector for their expanding operation in Durban. Please ensure you attach your LMI Certification with your CV, with a list of disciplines you are accredited in.

  The role is highly specific, and the successful candidate MUST be registered as a Lifting Machinery Inspector with the Engineering Council of South Africa.  This registration is not negotiable and no candidate, who cannot provide proof of registration, will be reviewed and considered.  Registration must be specifically for Mobile Cranes, Forklifts and Overhead Cranes 

  • In addition, the successful candidate will does have the requirement of being flexible to work both on and off-shore when required and the requirement for peak physical fitness is essential, due to the nature of the role. 
  • You must also be well presented, be able to communicate effectively with customers and have advanced skills in Pneumatic and Hydraulic systems, being able to read off of a blue print and schematic drawing.
  • You will have excellent report writing skills, understand the HSE requirements for off-shore equipment standards, be able to write and manage Job Safety procedures, perform load testing, rigging studies and certify lifting equipment and vehicles.
  • 3-5 years experience in a relevant field is critical and the ability to perform simultaneous tasks, under pressure is essential.
  • You must have your own reliable transport and valid driver’s license, as well as a valid SA passport.

This is a  good career opportunity for an experienced Technical Sales Consultant, who has worked in the field of lubricants and /or petro- chemical products, and who is looking to grow a strong career in sales.   You will bring a sound level of sales experience of at least eight to ten years in this technical environment, and have a tertiary qualification either in Engineering or Marketing.

Your prime responsibilities will be:-

  • To strategically drive marketing strategies
  • To identify and target new customers, monitor competitor activities, and ensure sales objectives are met continually through strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Ability to market new products, keep up to date with new trends and product development, and understand quality standards
  • Action and attention to administrative needs of the role through management reporting, customer service correspondence and credit records, as well as setting up own business plan and presentations to prospective customers.
  • Focused on building strong relationships with customers through regular calling and troubleshooting issues quickly.
  • Attendance at all exhibitions, trade fairs, product launches, and be able to network well at events and business gatherings.  You will also keep abreast of publications and material in this sector to back up your knowledge.

Our client, a national medium sized electrical services company, seeks to employ a qualified and ECA certified Master Installation Electrician, to take over management and operations of a small branch in Somerset West. 

 Please Note that this role does require a fully registered MIE certification and no other qualification or experience will be considered. This is not suitable for candidates from the heavy current sector, nor from the mining or manufacturing sector, the criteria and requirements are very specific and must be met as follows: 

  • You will be a South African citizen, who has passed a recognised trade test, as well as have the necessary MIE registration, verified through ECA, coupled with 3-5 years experience in managing construction electrical projects. 
  • You must have proven experience in managing staff, work orders, completing tenders, conducting HSE and workmanship quality inspections, report writing of incidents, as well as signing off on any installation or repair according to the specific SANS codes.
  • You will also have good verbal and written skills in English, in order to liaise with both customers and generate reports for management, have a good understanding of tenders, profit and loss margins, estimations and material costing, as well as being able to plan effectively and ensure branch profitability
  • Ideally, you will be resident in the Helderberg area or be willing to travel to Somerset West daily, including for emergencies over weekends, after hours or on public holidays.
  • Preference will be given to those candidates who have experience in the petro-chem sector, but construction industry experience is non-negotiable criteria.

SALARY AND INCENTIVES ON TARGET EARNINGS                             

This position requires a Technical Sales person who has been involved in the sale of process equipment such as conveyor systems and computer driven process packaging equipment. Ideally you will have been selling this type of equipment to a broad range of client companies, and you will be in a position to travel extensively throughout Southern Africa.

 You will deal directly with clients as well as build good relationships with specialised agencies, and at the same time, be able to generate new business both in client business and also in seeking out new agencies where possible.   The equipment has a range of standard product lines which can be sold to all clients with small and large systems, but opportunities also need to be brought in for business where bespoke and specifically designed equipment can provide solutions to a variety of problems in client companies.  

 Your background must be in the field of SALES not as a technician, and a proven record of generating new business in previous companies must be available from suitable referees. Ideally you are a person who is motivated to earn a good income on incentives and be self-motivated to achieve in your field.   Your suitability to this role will increase if you have worked in agricultural areas particularly in the fruit sector.

It is essential that you will have your own car, a Valid Drivers licence and be able to travel extensively in other areas.
